Cypress Trails Elementary Collects Pennies For Haiti

Marsha Hennings, 2nd grade teacher at Cypress Trails Elementary has been teaching her class about making a difference in the world. Lessons began with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and continued to a discussion on how students can help make a difference to the earthquake victims of Haiti. They have discussed their dreams of making the world a better place.
Students collected pennies and had a goal of raising $100 by the 100th day of school. The class exceeded their goal by collecting over $200 in pennies. They counted pennies in groups of 100 and will be donating the money to the American Red Cross to help earthquake victims in Haiti.
