Nike Designer Participates In An FCAT Motivational Assembly At Forest Park Elementary School
Mr. Eugene Rogers from the Nike design team will be the guest speaker at the FCAT motivational rally that will take place at Forest Park Elementary school on Monday, March 1st at 1:15 p.m. Mr. Rogers with a team of four Nike designers from Portland, Oregon came to Forest Park on January 19 as part of an initiative to help Haiti after the January 12 earthquake.
Forest Park Elementary is an International Baccalaureate school where students are taught to be international minded and to take action to make the world a better place. The school student body is approximately 40-50% Haitian Creole and was particularly affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
Students will wear the t-shirts designed on that day. The t-shirt has the following words written on the back, “In the wake of the devastating events in Haiti, students from Forest Park Elementary School in South Florida worked with designers from Nike to create artwork that sends a message of hope, love, and empathy to the Haitian people. Help us urge everyone in Haiti to “Hold on Tight, Don’t Let Go,” or in Creole, “Kenbe Pa Lage.” On the front of the t-shirt, is a Haitian flag and two hands reaching toward the other with the words, “Kenbe Pa Lage” written above the hands. The t-shirt is being sold by Nike with all proceeds going to help the people of Haiti through the agencies of Mercy Corps and Architecture for Humanity.
The school picture will be presented to Mr. Rogers on that occasion.
Forest Park Elementary is located on 1201 SW 3rd Street in Boynton Beach.
