The Education Network (T.E.N.) Racks Up Five Telly Awards!
Wins Awarded for Documentaries About A Local Artist, the Hurricane of 1928, and Teaching in Palm Beach County
The Education Network (T.E.N.) is now the proud recipient of five Telly Awards for excellence in 2010 to put next to the prestigious Emmy Award they won in 2009! The documentary “Laura Woodward: Visionary Artist” won in three categories: “Documentary,” “Cultural,” and “Education.” This half-hour video follows the life of Laura Woodward, a landscape artist who helped influence Henry Flagler to build a resort in Palm Beach in 1894.
The documentary “Hurricane of 1928” also won in the “Education” category. The Hurricane of 1928 was the second deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history, killing an estimated 3,000 people– mostly migrant workers– in the Glades.
“Teaching Excellence in Palm Beach County” earned a Telly for the teacher recruiting production that highlights the variety of reasons that draw thousands of new teachers to the county yearly.
Though not as well known as the Emmy Awards, the Telly Awards presentation is now in its 31st year. The Education Network was in competition with PBS, Comcast Entertainment Group, NASA, Discovery Communications, Sony Pictures and NBC Universal–among many others.
The letter of congratulation states: “The Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries (from all 50 states and 5 continents) from the finest ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable companies, interactive agencies and corporations in the world. It is a remarkable achievement to be selected for recognition.”
