Deaf Entertainer CJ Jones Returns to Palm Beach County for a VSA arts of Florida – Palm Beach County Sponsored Drama Residency for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students
Internationally known CJ Jones will be visiting deaf and hard of hearing students at five local schools the week of April 12-16 to conduct drama workshops. While working mainly with the students of Indian Pines Elementary School, other schools included in the residency are Dwight D. Eisenhower Elementary School, Palm Springs Middle School, John I. Leonard High School, and Jupiter High School. CJ will also speak at a meeting of the Palm Beach County School District Deaf and Hard of Hearing Parent Support Group. The week’s activities will conclude with a performance at Indian Pines Elementary School on April 16.
CJ has been delighting audiences, young and old, with his unique style of visual imagery and storytelling for over 25 years and is excited to return for another year. As a Deaf, black artist and role model, CJ promotes messages of self-esteem and is proud to promote increased awareness and sensitivity of deaf culture to people of all races. CJ currently co-stars in the recently premiered documentary “See What I’m Saying” that follows a year in the lives of four deaf entertainers. CJ has worked at Deaf West Theatre, traveled with the National Theatre of the Deaf and co-starred in “Children of a Lesser God” on Broadway. Some of his television appearances include NBC’s “Frasier,” CBS’ “Cold Case,” PBS television shows “Sesame Street” and “Rainbow’s End,” and he was the host of “Happy Hands Kids Klub.”
