Boynton Beach High Theatre Academy Students Perform An Evening Of Humorous And Moving Pieces

Posted by: Bito David

The Academy students, under the direction of Mr. Joseph Ametrano-Academy Director, will present AN EVENING III: Monologues Written and Performed by Our Students.  This is the third year that the young performers will be presenting an evening of humorous and moving pieces.

“Because the work is written and performed by our students, it’s a great opportunity for them to have their voices heard. There is amazing talent here in many areas and this week you will have the opportunity to see the Boynton Beach High Drama students shine, ” said Ametrano.

Students in the academy are getting superior training in theater and acting techniques.  Natalie Chevrier, a sophomore, states that she chose to come to BBCHS after learning about the Drama Academy and meeting the staff.  “Even though my home school is a good school, I knew that Boynton High was the best school for me,” she added.

According to Morgan Chininahsang, a senior at BBCHS, the Drama Academy has helped her become more confident and through the monologues it has provided her the chance to share her deepest thoughts in a way that no one would ever hear if she wasn’t a member of the Academy.

Kevin Altidor, a junior , summed up the students’ feelings by saying that “It is easier for me to tell people about myself through my monologues than it is through just meeting people.”

The performance will be held on Thursday, November 11th and Friday, November 12th in the Black Box Theatre at 7 pm.  Tickets are $5.00 at the door.
