Student Relief Club Seeks Donations To Help Others
The William T. Dwyer High School Relief Club is having a Food and Clothing Drive from now until May 5, 2011. Students, teachers, parents and community members are encouraged to donate clothing and non-perishable items that will be distributed in soup kitchens, shelters, and other agencies in need throughout the county.
The Relief Club also helps victims of natural disasters, like tsunamis, mud slides and hurricanes. Students in the club are drawing special attention to the situation in Haiti, asking for monetary donations, can/dry foods, water, wash clothes, soap, toothpaste/toothbrushes, first aid kits, alcohol and hand sanitizer.
The Mo & Sally Morning Show on 105.5 FM will be assisting in the project by making announcements to the community and motivating people to make donations. The Relief Club currently has 25 active members and organizes other events throughout the school year to help people in need. Students are encouraging members of the community to visit the campus to make a donation.
