South Tech Academy Instructor, Lorraine Snarberg, Receives First Annual Polished Apple Award
Lorraine Snarberg, Physical Education Instructor at South Tech Academy, was selected as one of the distinguished recipients of the First Annual Polished Apple Award, presented by the Palm Beach County Community Choice Committee. The awards program, which featured key note speaker State Senator Maria P. Sachs, was held on Sunday, May 15th at Suncoast High School.
The Committee strives to recognize both educators and members of the community who selflessly devote their time and efforts in improving the quality of education for students in Palm Beach County. Recipients were further selected upon the basis of demonstrating a profound, individual commitment in bettering the lives of these students.
Mrs. Snarberg embodies many disciplines and leadership skills that have certainly contributed to her success in passing the baton of fitness enthusiasm to her students. Her dedication to athletics and fitness began at a young age as she was involved in an array of activities including track and field, volleyball, gymnastics, and archery. In addition to competing, she also served as team manager for several other athletic teams.
Her passion became a full-time job, ten years ago, when she accepted the Physical Education Instructor position at South Tech Academy. Reflecting on her teaching career, she says, “Coming back to teaching has been very enjoyable and rewarding to me. I am going to miss the students a lot.” Her camaraderie and spirit will surely be missed at South Tech as she is transitioning into retirement this year.
