New Horizons Elementary 4th grade students will present a special performance titled “A Trip To Central America” during their PTA (Parent Teacher Association) Annual Assembly Meeting.
When? Monday, May 23, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Where? New Horizons Elementary – 13900 Greenbriar Blvd., Wellington, FL 33414.
The purpose of this presentation is to increase awareness among students living in the United States about other regions of the world. The presentation will highlight folkloric dances from Honduras as well as a variety of songs and music from other Central American countries.
New Horizons Elementary partnered with Discovery School in Honduras in order to provide the appropriate and special attires necessary for the performance. Both schools have worked closely during the past months by sharing and learning about the American and Central American Culture.
“We are very glad to provide this kind of activity to our students. Being one of the Dual Language Schools in the county, it’s important to highlight other countries and their culture. We are very thankful to Discovery School in Honduras for all the support that they have given us because without them, this would not be possible,” said Mrs. Luna, 4th Grade Dual Language Teacher.
In addition, the PTA Annual Assembly offers important information to parents, teachers and community members such as PTA Programs that benefit the school and membership and volunteer opportunities.
The School District of Palm Beach County focuses on the development and implementation of a range of multicultural curriculum topics/units, as well as the delivery of training and resources for educators, students, and the community. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate diversity and different perspectives of history and culture into their curriculum.
