Award Winning Author Visits Pioneer Park Elementary
Kimberly Willis Holt, award-winning author of the Piper Reed series is visiting Pioneer Park Elementary School. The author’s presentation is part of the Summer Literacy Festival being hosted all summer long at the media center of the school.

Where? Pioneer Park Elementary – 39500 Pioneer Park Rd., Belle Glade, FL 33430.
During the engagement, author Kimberly Willis Holt will offer two presentations. At 9:30 a.m. she will present a rendering of her picture books, Granny Clearwater and Critter and Skinny Brown Dog. Subsequently, at 10:30 a.m. the presentation will focus on 3rd to 6th grade students and it features writing strategies, details of the character, development process of Piper Read and a question and answer session pertaining her many other award-winning novels.
Each event will be followed by a book signing session, door prizes and snacks. Parents are requested to attend with their children for the full benefit of the program.
Through the support of the Mary and Robert Pew Foundation, the campus administration and the media specialist have planned a summer-long literacy program to support and foster a love of reading for students and their families. Behind the effort is a desire to introduce students to a variety of authors and genres while promoting summer reading. Due to the collaboration with other entities such as the Palm Beach County Library and community agencies, the Pioneer Park Elementary media center will host events and activities each Tuesday and Thursday beginning June 14th through August 9th with a culminating event, Summer Reading Celebration scheduled for August 2nd, 2011.
