Palm Beach County Students Obtain Multiple Honors in Advanced Placement Courses
Palm Beach County high schools and their students were awarded multiple honors through their participation in Advanced Placement courses and their successful performance on the culminating AP exams.
According to AP Online Score Reports, this past year in Palm Beach County, 13,514 students took 25,357 Advanced Placement exams. Of those students, 2,732 were recognized with various levels of AP Scholar Awards. Across the District there were 1,352 AP Scholars, 449 AP Scholars with Honors, 770 AP Scholars with Distinction, and 161 National AP Scholars.
The AP Scholar Award levels are as follows:
- AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
- AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
- AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
- National AP Scholar: Granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Special congratulations go to the schools participating in the Advanced Placement Incentive Program, which aims to increase access to Advanced Placement courses by increasing both participation and performance among traditionally underserved students.
These schools achieved the following results:
Boynton Beach High School: 3 AP Scholars
Glades Central High School: 2 AP Scholars
Lake Worth High School: 14 AP Scholars, 2 Scholars with Honor, and 2 Scholars with Distinction;
Palm Beach Lakes High School: 3 AP Scholars;
Santaluces High School: 24 AP Scholars, 4 Scholars with Honor, 5 Scholars with Distinction, and 1 National AP Scholar.
