Jupiter High Strikes “Gold” In California
The Jupiter High School student members of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) attended the 34th National Conference in Anaheim California this summer. The National HOSA Conference registered over sixty-five hundred participants. Jupiter High School’s HOSA club sent a delegation of thirty six students and chaperones. The students were searching for gold at the conference and because of the extra time and effort to study, practice skills and prepare presentations the students succeeded.
The “Public Service Announcement” team of Ashton Lewis, Brianna Scheppke, Logan Schrier, Joe Montgomery, James Holdt and Bryan Keoskie won back to back conference gold medals. Bronze medal winners for the “Citizen Emergency Response Team” are Jake Rubin and Jesse Zimmerman. Rounding out the top ten in the nation are Jessica Goebel and Micaela Buell for “Health Education”.
Jupiter High School HOSA was also recognized for outstanding newsletter by Editor Michelle Couret and the outstanding HOSA Chapter program of work was presented to the club’s historian Devanshi Tank. A Certificate of Recognition was awarded to the team of Jennifer Hochman, Caitlin O’Connor, Lauren and Hailey Geck for their involvement in HOSA Week.
Other students were recognized for the President’s Volunteer Service Award which includes: Brielle Meltzer, Shannon Anderson, Andre Johnson, Samantha Purcell-Musgrave, Amanda Szarlip , Briana Minich and Karen Herrera.
The following students were awarded the Barbara James Community Service Award. Students and chaperones in attendance include, Frankie Barrella, Jesse Bressler, Sophia Brown, Micaela Buell, Cameron Carter, Jessica Cothern, Rachelle Cucca, Jonathan Cutler, Stephanie England, Catherine Frampton, Jessica Goebel, Celeste Gonzalez, Jillian Guthrie, Jared Hebert, James Holdt, Bryan Keoskie, Dylan Kirschenbaum, Ashton Lewis, Kaela Miskin, Joe Montgomery, Jake Rubin, Brianna Scheppke, Scott Schloz, Logan Schrier, Nick Sconzo, Parker Shulman, Trevor Sterling, Devanshi Tank and Jesse Zimmerman. The chaperones on this trip were Mike and Tammy DeLeonardo, Sherman Steele, HOSA Advisors Carol Wright and Sharleen Scarafia.
