Pierce Hammock Elementary Annual Spelling Bee
Pierce Hammock Elementary was buzzing with excitement as 32 fourth and fifth grade students and their families assembled in the cafeteria for Pierce Hammock’s Annual Spelling Bee. The students had been preparing for months and the competitors were strong spellers.
After many rounds a winner shined through, Heven Kaufman a fifth grade student. The first runner up was Graciella Leon and the second runner up was Alexis Bennett, both fifth graders.
Heven Kaufman and Graciella Leon will represent Pierce Hammock Elementary at the Local Area Spelling Bee that takes place on February 25, 2012 at St. Andrews School in Boca Raton.
“The benefits of spelling bees extend beyond language: It helps develop self-confidence, communication and public speaking skills. We wish our spellers all the best!” said Dr. John Carvelli, Principal.
