Suncoast High And Roosevelt Middle Recognized As 2012 Magnet Schools Of Merit

Posted by: Vickie Middlebrooks

The Department of Choice and Career Options is happy to announce that Suncoast Community High School and Roosevelt Middle School have been recognized as 2012 Magnet Schools of Merit by Magnet Schools of America.   Suncoast High, one of 50 Magnet Schools of Excellence in the United States for 2012, has Dr. Linda Cartlidge as Principal and Ms. Beth Benvenuti as Magnet Coordinator.    Roosevelt Middle, one of 65 Magnet Schools of Distinction in the United States for 2012, has Ms. Jo Anne Rogers as Principal and Ms. Dee Ann Tiffany as Magnet Coordinator.

Magnet Schools of America established the Magnet Schools of Merit Award to recognize the top magnet schools in the United States.  The Magnet Schools of Merit Award recognizes magnet schools that show commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation/diversity efforts, parent and community involvement, and consistent delivery of quality services to all stakeholders.

Schools recognized must be members of Magnet Schools of America and must submit an application that is scored by a panel of educators.  ”We applaud both Suncoast and Roosevelt staff and faculty for this great accomplishment,” said School District Director of Choice and Career Options Barbara Terembes.
