Glade View Elementary Students Soaring in Writing

Glade View Elementary‘s Fourth Grade Writes Rally was recently held. As a prelude to the Rally, students joined in with the Testing Rap song by K-Bezzie (artist Kevin Brown) followed by an introduction of special guest to include Palm Beach County School Board Member, Marcia Andrews, and former administrators of the Palm Beach School District, Mary Evans and Eddie Lee Rhodes. 

Students were reminded of the writing target and their individual and collective goal. Mrs. Edgecomb, principal told students they would “suit up” by wearing a tee shirt designed by a GVE fourth grade student, Marc Italian under the supervision of art instructor, Mr. Rayburn White. The tee-shirts were made possible for the entire Glade View students, faculty and staff through the generosity of Dr. Geoffrey Mckee, principal of Boca Raton High. 

Mrs. Marcia Andrews was presented with a Level Up in Reading tee shirt which also reads on the back, “I am a Glade View Eagle…I am respectful and responsible.  I am a problem solver, high achiever and peacemaker.”  This additional feature was included within the silhouette of a metallic golden eagle complimentary of Dr. Mckee. 

The Rally continued with a round of Writing Jeopardy with an emphasis on conventions.  The culminating activity included repeating individual writing goals and releasing yellow and green balloons reflecting students’ writing goals.  Students were treated with bottled water and sugar cookies reflecting Writing Scores of 4, 5 or 6.
