Hammock Pointe Elementary Partners with DaggerWing Nature Center
Students, parents, teachers and administrators from Hammock Pointe Elementary School and the DaggerWing Nature Center will gather in the outdoor program stage to selelct the winners of the “Alligator Contest” on Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
Whenever the alligator in the DaggerWing Nature Center tank is replaced, the new younger gator needs a name so they reached out to the community and partnered with Hammock Pointe Elementary school of Boca Raton to accomplish this task.
Mrs. Sirce Giveon, Art Teacher of Hammock Pointe Elementary School, in close collaboration with the manager at the center, Kelli Dorschel, developed a whole child approach to learning for the contest. The 3rd grade team of teachers at the school brilliantly guided the students through the required Science textbook vocabulary and Language Arts essays resulting in creative excellence.
The Artwork shows student mastery in Collage, Painting and Oil Pastels while employing various Art Elements and Principles.
The “Friends of DaggerWing Nature Center” selected the best of the artwork and the essays. All the finalists’ pieces will be on display at the Gallery of DaggerWing Nature Center from May 1 – May 31, 2012. The finalists’ essays will be bound and available to read in the Nook part of the Gallery.
