Students Celebrate Law Week At Palm Beach Lakes Community High School
The Gerald A. Williams Law Academy at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School will celebrate Law Week 2012 April 30 through May 4 with a week- long series of events for the students in the academy.
The highlights of the week will include a Belle Glade Jail Tour, an opportunity for students to shadow county courthouse judges for a day, a trial attorneys’ panel discussion, and a judges’ panel discussion featuring Circuit Court Judges Ronald Alvarez and Catherine Brunson, Fourth District Court of Appeals Judges Burton Conner and Spencer Levine, and County Court Judges Nancy Perez and Reginald Corlew. Both panel days are sponsored by the Palm Beach County Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Students will have the opportunity to interact with the various judges and attorneys through presentations and question and answer sessions. Embedded within the week’s activities is the induction of the Law Honor Society in the school’s on-site courtroom.
Many of the students in the academy aspire to become attorneys or to go into other law-related careers, and the week’s events are sure to inspire and help them in their future career endeavors.
