U. B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts Travels to New York and Brings Home the Gold

The 4th and 5th Grade Kinsey Singers and Gold Orchestra from U. B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts traveled to New York City during the 2012 Memorial Day Weekend to perform in the Worldstrides Heritage Performance.  The Kinsey Singers were awarded “Gold Rating” by the Choral Judges, and were invited to perform in the 2013 Festival of Gold.  The student pianist was awarded the “Maestro Award” for his superior piano accompaniment skills.

The Gold Orchestra was awarded “Gold Rating” by the Instrumental Judges, and was honored with the “Best Overall Orchestra” trophy for having the highest score among the participating orchestras for the weekend.

The students performed on May 26th at Riverside Church in New York City.  They saw the Broadway Show, Disney’s Newsies, and visited Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Strawberry Fields area of Central Park, the Lincoln Center and the Museum of Natural History.  The Worldstrides Heritage Performance is a well-recognized Music Festival typically serving Middle and High School Music groups.  This is the 9th year the Gold Orchestra has participated in the Music Festival and the 4th year for the Kinsey Singers.
