Two District Schools Earn Exceeding Expectations Award
Wynnebrook Elementary School and Palm Springs Middle School have been notified that each has been selected as an Exceeding Expectations Award School by the East Coast Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC). “Your school was selected based on a combination of criteria consisting of FCAT scores and observations and conversations that occurred during our site visit in May,” said ECTAC Direct Marjorie Murray in her recent award letter. Palm Springs Principal Sandy Jinks and Jeff Pegg, principal of Wynnebrook, have both been invited to present at ECTAC’s Exceeding Expectations Conference set to occur September 12 and 13 in Orlando. Both will join other winners from across the state to receive their awards at the conference banquet.
Both Wynnebrook Elementary and Palm Springs Middle will be included in a booklet ECTAC is publishing for the conference with information about the State’s award-winning schools. Federal and State Programs Director Debbie Battles said there’s reason to be proud of both schools’ accomplishments. “There are exciting things going on at both of these schools and we’re looking forward to the presentations the principals will give at the conference in September; others around the state will benefit from hearing about the efforts implemented at Palm Springs Middle and Wynnebrook Elementary,” she stated.
The center provides educational consultation services to help local school districts with high poverty schools provide fair, equitable, and significant opportunities for a high quality education.
