Pahokee Middle School Hosts Book Give-Away

Approximately 85 students from Pahokee Middle School will be receiving six books each as part of the Summer Reading Program that was hosted by the school this summer. The book give-away will take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. 

Pahokee’s Summer Reading Program was made possible from a grant obtained by the school to increase the reading capacity of the students. Children will be allowed to select from a variety of books including mysteries, series, science fiction and many others. 

“The program exposes our children to a variety of models and methodologies. Students learn to be independent readers, develop an understanding of multiple aspects and gain reading fluency and stamina,” said Mrs. Lavoise Smith, Principal. 

Barnes & Noble of Wellington played an instrumental part in this initiative by providing discounts and books that correlate to the curriculum.
