Indian Ridge Educator To Carry Commencement Banner-First In Family To Graduate From College
Clara Johnson, Indian Ridge School Behavior Intervention Associate, has been selected to carry the Commencement banner at the upcoming Strayer University graduation ceremony. Ms. Johnson who has worked for the School District of Palm Beach County for 14 years will be carrying the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree banner in the graduate processional.
She was awarded the honor of carrying the banner because of her academic accomplishments. “I am so excited, this degree means everything to me,” said Ms. Johnson. “I am the first person in my family to earn a bachelor degree. Working here at the Palm Beach County School District I have seen the need for intervention to aid students with the many struggles they face in today’s society, so I pursued a degree in Criminal Justice. Now that I have completed my degree and got the fulfillment from within I have decided to continue with my studies to earn a Master’s in Education.”
She is also encouraging her students to study hard and continue their education, “To the students, it doesn’t matter how long it takes to earn your degree in whatever path of your choice, I can say this with great pride, self determination and hard work will let you accomplish your goals and pursue your dreams.”
The Strayer University graduation ceremony will take place September 29th at the Amway Center in Orlando. “I will carry the banner with honor and pride for my family,” continued Ms. Johnson. “Even though both of my parents and two sisters are deceased, I know they are looking down on me with great pride.”
