Forest Hill High Hosts Open House and 9/11 Memorial Activities
When students and staff at Forest Hill High held their annual Open House September 11 the Army JROTC color guard opened the event in the school’s auditorium followed by a brief reminder of the events of September 11, 2001. First was the tragedy in New York-, The Twin Towers, then the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and finally the heroes that were aboard the plane over Pennsylvania that caused an obscure part of Pennsylvania to become hallowed ground.
First Sargeant Tidwell recited the Fireman’s Prayer, followed by Fannie Rodriguez who introduced School Police Officer Hernan Ramos who was on active duty with the NYPD on that fateful day. His touching remarks brought parents, students, and staff to their feet several times. He then introduced five District Police colleagues, who were also police officers in New York during 9/11:
Louis Bartolomeo
Steve Covetski
Anthony Makowski
Kevin Kenny
Robert Keating
All who participated in Forest Hill’s Open House and Memorial were moved and gratified to be in the presence of true American heroes who are a part of this country’s history.
