Elementary Students Invited To Participate In Day Of Play
Come play on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the Wellington Tennis Center from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for the Florida United States Tennis Association (USTA), 10 and under tennis festival. The Wellington Tennis center is located at 12150 Forest Hill Blvd.
Palm Beach County students are invited to attend, and be a part of the USTA Free Play Day in celebration of Nickelodeon’s World Wide Day of Play on Saturday, October 6th at the Wellington Tennis Center. Nickelodeon asks all viewers to turn off their TV and go out and play. USTA is asking all children 10 and under to play tennis from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be on-court tennis activities, off-court games, and crafts, a DJ, bounce house, raffle prizes, and food.
In 2011, the Florida USTA provided a tennis grant for eight elementary schools in the Wellington Community to teach the 10 and under tennis curriculum in physical education classes. The schools that participated in the tennis grant are Binks Forest, Discovery Key, Elbridge Gale, Equestrian Trails, Everglades, New Horizons, Panther Run, and Wellington. Each school received thousands of dollars in age appropriate tennis equipment and professional development.
This fun day is FREE for elementary school children and their families. This festival is sponsored by local vendors, such as, Whole Foods, TCBY, Tijuana Flats, Publix, Lowes, Sports Authority, and many more.
