Wellington Elementary is Going for the Gold

Wellington Elementary School kicked off the school year with an Olympic sized book fair. The aptly titled “Going for the Gold” book fair was a fun filled week-long event inspired by the Summer Olympics. 

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and volunteers transformed the media center into an Olympic stadium complete with an Olympic ring banner, sports memorabilia, and volunteers wearing team shirts.  The students also participated in a Reading Log Contest. 

“Our students took home the GOLD in Reading by reading 90,478 minutes!” said Mrs. Eugina Smith-Feaman, Principal. 

The closing ceremonies took place during the Book Fair Family Night.  All proceeds from the book fair benefit the school library.  Wellington Elementary will be hosting another book fair in February 2013.
