Florida Council For Exceptional Children To Hold Conference In Palm Beach County
The Florida Council for Exceptional Children (FCEC) will be holding its 66th Annual FCEC Conference October 25-27, 2012 at the Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa. The Conference will continue FCEC’s collaborative efforts with school districts, universities, family organizations and the Florida Student Council For Exceptional Children Association.
The Division for Learning Disabilities of the Council for Exceptional Children will be joining the conference for the first time. Together the two groups will celebrate their mutual commitment to children and youth with special needs.
Key note speakers for the event are: Dr. Marilyn Friend, International CEC Immediate Past President and current Chair and Professor Emeritus, Department of Specialized Education Services, University of North Carolina, Greensboro NC and Dr. Monica Verra-Tirado, Florida’s new Director of the Bureau of Exceptional Education. Dr. Friend will be speaking on Collaboration as a Key for 21st century education and in her breakout session she will be examining Effective Co-Teaching models.
School District of Palm Beach County Director of Research and Evaluation, Mark Howard will be a panel member on the important panel discussion, “Teacher Evaluation in Special Education.”
