Discovery Key Elementary School Nabs Grand Prize in National Promotion
Lake Worth school to be brimming with school supplies and box tops
Discovery Key Elementary School will soon receive $10,000 worth of Avery Denison school supplies, 25,000 Bonus *eBox Tops (a $2,500 value), and $1,000 in gift cards for teachers to purchase additional classroom supplies. The school has been notified that it is one of five schools in the nation that received the most online votes to get the windfall as part of the Avery Denison Office and Consumer Products Group Give back to schools national promotion. Teachers, families, and school supporters (aged 18 and older) were encouraged to vote online for their local K-8 school between May 7 and September 14 of this year and virtually showed up in droves to vote for Discovery Key.
Principal Catherine Lewis said her parents were instrumental in mobilizing the torrent of support that will benefit each of her classroom teachers and office staff as well. “We sent home flyers in May and the parents reached out to the entire school family including the volunteers, their own co-workers and friends; it was amazing,” she stated enthusiastically. “Not only will teachers and students have every school supply they need this year, but we get valuable box tops and gift cards we can use for everyday learning and special projects, beyond this school year.” The school was one of only two in the state to generate more than 2 million votes.

Avery Dennison Office and Consumer Products Group created the online promotion as an additional method to give back to the communities that have helped the company succeed and this is the third consecutive year they have provided awards to 40 schools at varied tiers of rewards.
