School District Continues To Lead Way In Greening Schools

Posted by: Vickie Middlebrooks

With the recent additions at Seminole Trails Elementary and Manatee Elementary being LEED Certified and Pahokee Middle School receiving Florida Green Building Coalition Certification, the School District of Palm Beach County continues to lead the way in “Greening” our schools.  “The School District is committed to building resource-efficient, healthy school environments to support and enhance the educational experience of our students,” said Chief of Support Operations Joseph Sanches. “One big part of that effort is the District’s commitment to follow the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system for all new construction.”

In addition to addressing energy conservation and using recycled materials LEED certification recognizes schools for classroom acoustics, master planning, mold prevention and sustainable use of the site.
