Palm Beach County’s Learn Green Is Florida’s Premier Green Schools Conference

Palm Beach County’s 2012 Learn Green Conference and Expo takes place this October 19, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. More than 900 participants are taking advantage of this conference and exposition for schools, presented by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County. 

Teachers, students, administrators, community members and experts in the field will have the opportunity to learn from each other and discuss different programs and innovative initiatives.

Learn Green breakout sessions will be focusing on Healthy Kids and Healthy Communities; School Grounds Enhancement; Community Partnerships; Curriculum Integration; School Sustainability; Sustainable Facilities – Design and Management and Innovative Programs and Practices and much more.

Keynote Speaker, Nona Evans.

Keynote speaker Ms. Nona Evans is the President and Executive Director of the WholeKids Foundation, which is the newest philanthropic endeavor of Whole Foods Market. Founded in June 2011, the Foundation has participated in granting more than 1000 salad bars to schools across the U.S. WholeKids Foundation most recently launched a School Garden Grant Program in partnership with FoodCorps that will provide more than $2 million in grants to 100 schools or garden-related nonprofits in the U.S., U.K. and Canada.

Ms. Evans will share her passion to end the childhood obesity epidemic in America and how the WholeKids Foundation is working to support schools and inspire families to improve children’s nutrition and wellness.   

Teachers will be eligible to earn in-service points for attending the conference and submitting the required documentation.
