Boca Raton Hiigh School’s Homecoming Queen Also World Martial Arts Champion

Posted by: Deborah Stewart

Boca Raton High School senior Micayla Johnson is a force to be reckoned with and she’s having a red-letter year.  Micayla was crowned Homecoming Queen at this year’s Homecoming game earlier this month and she also won the 2011 US Open World Martial Arts Championship with a heart-stopping performance. The lacrosse player holds a 4.7 weighted grade point average at Boca High’s Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Academy and hopes to attend the University of Florida. Principal Dr. Geoff McKee said despite Micayla’s beauty and outstanding academic achievement, her peers voted her homecoming queen for other reasons. “Micayla won the crown because of her humility, kindness, and uplifting spirit. Students and staff agree that she’s an excellent model of the well-rounded student all schools like to mold,” he stated. “Plus, as a World Martial Arts Champion—no one messes with our Homecoming Queen,” he quipped.  A video of Micayla at the Championship competition can be viewed at the link below.
