Christa McAuliffe Middle School Team Raises Money and Plans Walk to Fight Crohn’s Disease
Seventh grade teacher Dana Silbersweig has been busy with more than teaching critical thinking this school year. The Christa McAuliffe Middle School teacher and her students raised over $1,000 to donate to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. In addition, the more than 70 students and their parents have created a team which they named Silbersweig Supporters to participate an upcoming walk, set for November 10th. The Florida Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is hosting the West Palm Beach Take Steps Walk starting at 2:00 p.m. in CityPlace.
Ms. Silbersweig has personal knowledge of the impact of Crohn’s, she was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 10 and is among nearly 700,000 people in the U.S. who are hopeful that research will lead to a cure. The team will participate in the walk and then volunteer afterwards.
